Berlin, May 2025 – LIWACOM successfully participated in the 20th Pipeline Technology Conference (PTC) in Berlin from 5-8 May 2025. At Booth I5, we presented Version 7 of SIMONE, our advanced gas pipeline simulation and optimization software, developed in partnership with SIMONE Research Group.

LIWACOM, a global leader in pipeline simulation and optimization solutions, continued its tradition of active involvement at the 55th Annual Pipeline Simulation Interest Group (PSIG) Conference, held from 6–9 May 2025 in Seattle, Washington, USA. The event once again brought together industry experts to discuss the latest advancements in pipeline modeling, innovative simulation applications, and real-time simulation solutions.

As in previous years, LIWACOM was present with a dedicated booth where attendees could engage with a demo system of our core product, SIMONE. This year’s demonstrations focused on WTGraf, the new browser-based interface for SIMONE, which enables users to interact with the simulation software in a significantly more flexible and user-friendly manner. The enhanced accessibility and intuitive design of the interface attracted strong interest from simulation experts, operators, and solution providers.

The conference program featured a variety of new and relevant papers, including a presentation by Martin Stýblo of the SIMONE Research Group on the challenges encountered in the simulation of reciprocating gas compressors. Discussions throughout the event reflected key industry topics such as energy transition, pipeline optimization, and real-time simulation.

Essen, 7.10.2024 – Vienna, Austria, was the destination for the SIMONE Congress on Pipeline Simulation and Optimization 2024, hosted by LIWACOM Informationstechnik GmbH, Essen, in collaboration with SIMONE Research Group s.r.o., Prague. The event attracted more than 95 delegates from 21 countries and 38 companies.

This was the 16^th SIMONE Congress since its inception in 1991, which has been held every two years, with the exception of 2020 when the 15th congress in Sofia was postponed to 2022 due to the pandemic.

The opening keynote was delivered by Helmut Wernhart from Austrian Gas Grid Management (AGGM), based in Vienna, who provided a historical overview of the city and insights into the development of Austria's gas infrastructure.

The technical program focused around three key areas:

- Transformation of transmission networks (from natural gas to H₂ or CO₂ transmission)

- Training with SIMONE

- Simulation of classical SIMONE applications, such as quality tracking

These topics were presented by customers, who shared their experiences using SIMONE, offering both practical insights and a broader perspective. Additionally, the program included presentations on new features and future developments, such as the SIMONE Web Interface.

The social program continued the SIMONE Congress tradition of exploring local culture and history. Participants chose from five "Old Town Walks," which included visits to an iconic Viennese coffee house, architectural landmarks, hidden courtyards, and majestic sites such as the Hofburg. Other options included a horse-drawn carriage tour and a bus tour of the city.

The day concluded with a congress dinner at Fuhrgasslhuber, a traditional Viennese Heuriger, where attendees enjoyed a classic Austrian buffet of local cuisine. Thanks to the sunny weather, participants relaxed in the cozy courtyard late into the evening.

San Diego, May 2022. After a 2-year hiatus, the PSIG Congress was finally able to take place physically again. LIWACOM and SIMONE Research Group were again strongly committed at this year’s PSIG 52th Anniversary Conference held in San Diego.

The main focus this year was on the transition to renewable energies and the new challenges associated with it.

LIWACOM demonstrated the latest SIMONE software developments at the exhibition accompanying the conference, which was, as always, an excellent opportunity to discuss SIMONE solutions to customer needs and requirements.

Martin Styblo from our Czech partner SRG, as a newly elected PSIG Board Member, highlighted in his presentation the effects of increasing hydrogen content in the transportation of Natural Gas.

Sofia, Bulgaria, April 2022.The 15th International SIMONE Congress on Pipeline Simulation and Optimization finally took place April 27-29, 2022. Due to Corona, the long-awaited event had to be postponed for two years.

SIMONE users and interested experts from all over the world met in Sofia to share their experiences.

 The presented papers dealt with topics on the practical use of SIMONE and descriptions of SIMONE integration projects.

Last but not least, “Going Green” was a big theme – several presentations dealt with the forward-looking theme of the future: using the gas infrastructure for hydrogen, coupling of gas and electricity networks for optimizing future demand and analyzing characteristic values for alternative fuels injection.

The communicative atmosphere of the SIMONE Congress is traditionally enhanced by a social event. The evening program was a gala dinner that took place at the National Museum of History, which was the ideal place to enhance the communicative atmosphere of the congress.

Wenn sie ausgenutzt wird, kann sie zu Remote Code Execution (RCE) führen, indem eine bestimmte Zeichenfolge auf den betroffenen Installationen aufgezeichnet wird.  

Die SIMONE Software ist von der Log4Shell Sicherheitslücke nicht betroffen!
SIMONE installiert oder verwendet die betroffene Java Library nicht. SIMONE verwendet seinen eigenen, nativen Logging-Mechanismus.

London, May 2019. LIWACOM and SIMONE Research Group were again strongly committed at this year’s PSIG 50th Anniversary Conference in London.

London, May 2019. LIWACOM demonstrated the latest SIMONE software developments at the exhibition accompanying the conference, which was, as always, an excellent opportunity to discuss SIMONE solutions to customer tasks.

The paper presentations included contributions related to the SIMONE pipeline simulator. Together with Marko Haulis of SIMONE Research Group, our customer Balasz Rosta of FGSZ Hungary, presented a paper about net schedule management as a route to dynamic optimization (NSM). He was looking for a tool that can optimize the current situation and nearest future with as low as possible transport cost while fulfilling the contract constraints. His paper presented a study that confirms 4% - 23% daily savings of fuel gas on a medium complexity gas network.

Groningen, Niederlande, Oktober 2018. Am 18. Oktober wurde in der Zentrale der Gasunie in Groningen das „Go Live“ des Jason Projekts für die neue Leitzentrale mit einem feierlichen Festakt gefeiert.

In Anwesenheit von Han Fennema, dem Geschäftsführer und Vorstandsvorsitzenden der Gasunie Niederlande, sowie Bart Jan Hoevers, Vorstandsmitglied und Direktor der Gasunie Transport Services (GTS), wurde vor allen Gasunie Mitarbeitern in der Eingangshalle ein großes Display mit den Eckdaten des Gastransports enthüllt. Der Name des neuen Systems ist ab nun GENIUS.

Das Gasnetz wird vom SCADA System AGMS von Schneider Electric Serbien und dem voll integrierten Simulationspaket SIMONE betrieben. Ein Imagefilm zeigt einen Einblick in die tägliche Routinearbeit der Leitzentrale sowie das Zusammenspiel von AGMS und SIMONE. Die Geschäftsführung lobte nochmals explizit die hervorragende Zusammenarbeit.

Essen, 8.10.2018 – Madrid in Spain was the destination for more than 96 delegates from 28 countries and 41 companies to join the SIMONE Congress on Pipeline Simulation and Optimization 2018, organized by LIWACOM Informationstechnik GmbH, Essen and SIMONE Research Group s.r.o., Prague.

The congress was the 14^th congress in a row since 1991 and LIWACOM’s 30^th birthday.

The opening speech with a journey back into the past was held by the founding father G. Wagner and supported by J. Kralik.

The main focus of the technical program was on engineering, simulation and dispatching/operations as presented by our customers showing their experience with SIMONE but also providing the ability to take the broader view.

The program was rounded up by giving an outline to new features and development directions.

The social program followed the tradition of the SIMONE congresses to visit places of historical, natural or human interest. The choice was between City Tour, Prado Tour and the Bernabeu Stadium which was followed by the congress dinner held in Casa Patas, a traditional tavern restaurant. After dinner a fascinating flamenco show brought us into the right mood to celebrate the 30^th birthday with a marvelous cake and cava.

Qualität und Kundenzufriedenheit stehen bei LIWACOM von Beginn an im Mittelpunkt – jetzt wurde unser Qualitätsmanagement erfolgreich nach DIN EN ISO 9001:2015 zertifiziert.

Unsere Prozesse werden von der ersten Kundenanfrage an bis zum hochwertigen Endprodukt laufend über unser Qualitätsmanagementsystem geprüft und verbessert.

Mit der ISO-Zertifizierung wurde uns bestätigt, dass unsere Prozesse internationalen Standards entsprechen.

LIWACOM wurde auf der diesjährigen PSIG Konferenz in Atlanta erfolgreich durch Martin Mans (Geschäftsführer) und dem ehemaligen Geschäftsführer und jetzigem Berater Günter Wagner vertreten. Anlässlich eines Besuchs bei der CNN sprachen sie über die Geschäftsübergabe bei LIWACOM.

Stanislaw Brzeczkowski und Maciej Szeniawski von Gaz-System aus Polen, ein Kunde von LIWACOM, hielten einen ausgezeichneten Vortrag über „Forecasting of Gas Quality“ und die Vorteile, die sich in diesem Zusammenhang aus einer Simulation ergeben.

Von LIWACOMs strategischem Partner, der SIMONE Research Group, kamen Vit Meistr und Marco Haulis mit einer interessanten Präsentation zum Thema „Using Pipeline Simulator to Model High-Speed Dynamic Events on a Microsecond Scale“. Ihr Vortrag beschreibt die Modellierung von Ereignissen auf einer Millisekunden-Skala mit Standard-1-D-Simulationssoftware.

In der Technology Showcase-Session sprechen unsere Kunden nach alter Tradition über ihre Erfahrungen und Vorteile mit der SIMONE Software. In diesem Jahr berichtete Gaz System über die Integration von SIMONE in ihrem Gasnetz.

Die parallel zur Konferenz laufende Ausstellung bot eine hervorragende Gelegenheit zum Austausch von Ideen und der Vorstellung von SIMONE Lösungen für die Problemstellungen der Kunden.

Die Pipeline Simulation Interest Group (PSIG) besteht seit 1969. Sie dient als Plattform für den Informationsaustausch zur Förderung des Standes der Technik auf den Gebieten der Modellierung, Simulation, Optimierung, stationärer und transienter Strömungen, ein-und mehrphasiger Strömungen sowie verwandter Themen bei Pipelinesystemen für Flüssigkeiten.

Essen, 14.3.2017 – LIWACOM stellt SIMONE Release V 6.20 vor – mit signifikanten Neuerungen.

Neuerungen in der Benutzeroberfläche sind das große Thema beim neuen Release. Durch die neue, anwenderfreundliche grafische Benutzerschnittstelle wird intuitives Arbeiten mit SIMONE ermöglicht - ohne Kompromisse hinsichtlich der robusten Funktionalität des Programms. Alle wesentlichen Kommandos für das Einrichten und den Ablauf der Simulation stehen nun auf sogenannten Ribbons zur Verfügung. Sie sind entsprechend ihrer Verwendung gruppiert und daher leicht zu finden.

Das Hinzufügen, Bearbeiten und Löschen von Beschriftungen und Bildern ist nun direkt zur Laufzeit möglich, ohne in den Netzeditor zu wechseln, wodurch die Effizienz in der Entwicklungsphase eines Netzwerks deutlich optimiert wird.

Die Objekt-Kontext-Menüs verfügen nun über eine größere konfigurierbare Auswahl an Popup-Anzeigen zur flexibleren Unterstützung der Ergebnisanalyse.

Für die Anwender der erweiterten Verdichtermodellierung steht nun über die Auswahl AUTO eine neue automatische Auswahl an Verdichterkonfigurationen zur Verfügung – für dynamische als auch für statische Berechnungen.

SIMONE Version 6.2 unterstützt nun auch eine Auswahl an konfigurierbaren Farbthemen für die Anzeige der Ergebnisgrafiken.
